Topeak Babyseat II Bicycle Carrier Seat

Todson Inc. of North Attleboro MA., in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall on April 5, 2012 for the Topeak Babyseat II Bicycle Carrier Seats due to a laceration and fingertip amputation hazards. A child can place his or her fingers in the opening at the grab bar's hinge mechanism. When the consumer lifts the grab bar to remove the child from the seat, the child's fingertips can be caught in the hinge mechanism. This recall involves Topeak Babyseat II bicycle carrier seats with model numbers TCS2100, TCS2101 and TCS2102. The Babyseats were sold in 3 styles, Baby seat only, Babyseat with disc compatible rack and Babyseat with non-disc compatible rack. The Topeak name is embossed on the back of the seat with a date code time stamp molded in the back of the seat. The following 3 additional points can also identify the seat. (1) The cross bar has a red locking tab to secure the crossbar closed. (2) The yellow locking block used to secure the seat to the rack enters and removes from the side of the rack and seat. (3) On the caution decal located on the back of the seat has a certification logo TUV 28974 located on the left hand side of the decal. The recalled babyseats have been sold nationwide from January 2009 to April 2012.
