Product Details

Yakima HighLite 2

Yakima's HighLite 2 securely transports two bikes with Yakima's easy-to-adjust Switchblade cradles and sturdy straps. In addition to carrying traditional double-diamond frames with zero bike-to-bike contact, the anti-sway cradles are specially shaped to be compatible with non-standard and full-suspension frames. Constructed of lightweight aluminum, this innovative hitch rack is simple to lift and attach to your vehicle, while folding arms make transport and storage a breeze. Plus, the tilt-down mast allows unimpeded trunk/hatch access and Yakima's built-in Lockdown security cable makes it easy to lock your bikes to the rack.

    Comments:

For basic transportation, this rack does the trick perfectly! The ability to collapse the frame is beneficial for storage and if you choose to drive around without a bike on. I love being able to access my trunk with the rack on, even though I was scared to open my trunk the first time as my car is brand new. I picked this rack based on the recommendation of the employee working at the shop as it was best suited for my needs. I explained that I needed something sturdy as I planned to drive across the country with my bike; however, upon making the trip, I experienced immense difficulties as my bike slid around A LOT! I had to try to tie it down in multiple different fashions as I have an expensive bike and was terrified I was going to lose it as I was travelling. Despite tying it down with multiple straps and my bike lock, it continued to move around as the cradles of the rack are not secured to the frame in order to allow for them to be adjustable. Other than the problems associated with my excessive travel, the rack does what it needs to do with allowing for conveniences such as being able to collapse and being lightweight!
